The hubble rate trouble: an effective field theory of dark matter

چکیده

Abstract The Hubble constant inferred from the 6-parameter fit to CMB power spectrum conflicts with value obtained direct measurements via type Ia supernova and Cepheids observations. We write down effective operators involving spin-0, spin-1/2, spin-1 dark matter that lead relativistic production of particles at early times, consequently an increase in number degrees freedom. This mechanism which is amenable CMB, BBN, structure formation observables can sufficiently raise derived reconcile local probes constant. alone increases $$H_0$$ H 0 up $$70\, \textrm{km}\, \textrm{s}^{-1} \, \textrm{Mpc}^{-1}$$ 70 km s - 1 Mpc , help a Phantom-like cosmology, reach $$H_0 \simeq $$ ≃ 71–73 $$\textrm{km} \,\textrm{s}^{-1} . Lastly, we outline region parameter space reproduces while obeying all relevant constraints.

An Effective Theory of Dirac Dark Matter

A stable Dirac fermion with four-fermion interactions to leptons suppressed by a scale Λ ∼ 1 TeV is shown to provide a viable candidate for dark matter. The thermal relic abundance matches cosmology, while nuclear recoil direct detection bounds are automatically avoided in the absence of (large) couplings to quarks. The annihilation cross section in the early Universe is the same as the annihil...

Heavy dark matter annihilation from effective field theory.

We formulate an effective field theory description for SU(2)_{L} triplet fermionic dark matter by combining nonrelativistic dark matter with gauge bosons in the soft-collinear effective theory. For a given dark matter mass, the annihilation cross section to line photons is obtained with 5% precision by simultaneously including Sommerfeld enhancement and the resummation of electroweak Sudakov lo...

Hubble Deep Field Constraint on Baryonic Dark Matter

We use a new technique to search for faint red stars in the Hubble Deep Field (HDF) imaged by the Wide Field Camera (WFC2) on the Hubble Space Telescope. We construct a densely sampled stellar light profile from a set of undersampled images of bright stars in a low-latitude field. Comparison of this stellar light profile to densely sampled profiles of individual objects in the HDF constructed f...

Liouville Field Theory and Dark Matter

One of the most intriguing unsolved problems in modern cosmology involves the nature of the observed dark matter in the universe. Various hypothetical particles have been postulated as the source of the dark matter, but as of yet none of these particles have been observed. In this paper I present an alternative view. The observations indicate the presence of a new force that is much weaker than...

Modification of the field theory and the dark matter problem

We present an extension of the field theory onto the case in which the topology of space can vary. We show that the nontrivial topology of space displays itself in a multivalued nature of all observable fields and the number of fields becomes an additional degree of freedom. In the limit in which topology changes are suppressed, the number of fields is conserved and the Modified Field Theory (M...
